Was a bit surprised to get off the train the other night and find that my local bar, Fly Fish (born Whiskey Sunday), was shuttered, and two days later it remains so—apparently for good. The food was never that good, but when they decided to go from being a straight-up BBQ joint to the bastard child of a barbecue smoke house and a raw bar, they pretty much closed themselves down. I had just gotten back from the West Coast when they made that change, which made the idea of eating oysters next to Prospect Park seem especially pitiable.

Still, this is the first time in my life that a bar within a block of where I live has ever closed down. Do I need to start drinking more (again)?
